the most traumatising morning in the 19 years and 7 months of my life.

i witnessed a car accident beside kallang mrt, with a taxi killing the poor auntie right on the spot. i thought i would just see such things on tv.. who knows i'm suay enough to witness the real thing.

i was going up the escalator in the mrt station when i heard a loud "screeeeeech.... BOOM! PIANG" sound and i thought a vehicle must have ran over some glass or something. i turned my head and looked out of the station. to my horror i saw this auntie flying off and landing on the road, face down and not moving. my first reaction was like "OMG" and so were the people in the mrt station who witnessed. i was in a complete shock since i didn't expect to see someone being knocked down.. the poor auntie was lying right beside the taxi which knocked her down and her stuffs were thrown quite far away from her. Some passer-bys started crowding around the scene and some helpful people set up traffic cones around the scene to direct the traffic flow.

according to the papers, the 62 yr old auntie recovered from breast cancer and was positive about life.. she joined the dragon boat team set up for ex-breast cancer patients and she was knocked down when she was crossing the road to the mrt station to meet her daughter after her routine training. poor thing..

i felt really scared upon witnessing the accident and completely lost the mood to study for the entire morning.. the auntie wasn't exactly in a peaceful position but thank goodness the scene wasn't messy with blood or whatsoever. it feels terrible to see someone die right before your eyes.. especially a tragic death like this.

i think i won't dare to drive for the time being.. sigh. a poor 8 yr old boy was killed in an accident just yesterday too.. so sad ='(

lessons learnt:

1) try not to jay-walk!! even if you really have to, please ensure that there're really no cars before you cross.. don't try to jay-walk across 4 lanes of heavy traffic like the auntie today.. sigh.

2) do not drive too fast!! i know people like me who drive slowly can obstruct traffic sometimes.. but whats so cool about speeding? don't be stupid, it doesn't show that you are a more skillful driver.

3) life is so vulnerable :( i'm so glad i'm healthy and living.
